Liz Barry is a loving Mother first & foremost to her beautiful daughters!! Now every day in her life is definitely different but she helped us get a little insight of what a typical day to day may look like in her household. On any given day it typically involves getting her girls ready for school & her husband dropping off the eldest at school while she does her workout. Making time for her this past year was very important and definitely beneficial to her & her family. While the eldest is at school, Liz & her little one adventure around the Charleston area or do something outside. While her daughter naps, Liz fills the time with some work before they head off to pick up the eldest at school. Afternoons are filled with playground visits, library dates or taking part in an art class lead by Liz! Yes, Liz has an amazing art business: Liz Barry Studios, where she offers classes for children in her James Island studio. Once bedtime rolls around for the littles, Liz really dives into her, work day. In addition to Liz Barry Studios, she runs an extremely successful photography business where she photographs families in and around the Charleston area. To stay present with her family, especially during the day, Liz takes advantage of the golden hour light in the evenings and weekends for photo sessions. This helps Liz invest as much time as she can in her family life while still filling her cup with art and photography! I’d like to call this ‘rockstar’ status !

In Liz’s new venture, she wrote/illustrated and recently released a children’s book called, ‘Waffles with a Whale.’ It is absolutely adorable and a must read if you have little ones! From Liz: “This past year, I finally published my first children’s book called “Waffles with a Whale”, which I am incredibly proud of. I wrote and illustrated this book, and it was a 6 year endeavor. I’m still on quite a high from the launch and that it’s out in the world. You can get a copy on Amazon! I have big goals for 2025, including publishing my second children’s book called “Rainbow Puppy Feels”, so be on the lookout for the launch party for that one!”

Business aside – I asked Liz a few questions about her experience as a Mom and wanted to share some of her responses with y’all:
What’s the best thing about being a Mom? What’s the hardest part?
This is such a hard question. I adore seeing my girls’ brains tick, even if it’s through watching them play or playing with them. Their imaginations are absolutely incredible. I love how they find joy in the smallest things and to hear them laugh just makes me melt.
There are lots of difficult parts to parenting… I think the constant balance of trying to be present with them and feeling an intense sense of “mom guilt” can be quite overwhelming at times, as well as trying desperately to slow down time. Also, getting them to put and keep their shoes on? Does anyone else experience the pain of that?? It’s like wrangling a dragon in our house!
(My Note: Yes, Liz, yes we all have that issue or at least many of us do…haha)
Tell me a brief story about the funniest moment you’ve had as a Mom?
Oh man there are so many- when my eldest (she’s 6 now) was about 3, she said “mommy, can you do a painting of me with my favorite stuffy?”. I said, “sure, which one is your favorite?”. “Oh my kitty corn stuffy is my most favorite…” to which I responded.. “Jozie, you don’t HAVE a kitty corn stuffy!” I couldn’t stop laughing and that’s how she manipulated me into getting a kitty corn stuffy!
(My Note: Those kiddos are so smart finding ways to get their favorites hehe)
