Meet Sarah Williams-Scalise, an incredible Mother, co-owner of a Korean Dumpling Business (Sarah’s Dumps), co-organizer of the Charleston AAPI Collective, Full-Time Insurance Agent and all around rockstar. On a typical day you’ll find Sarah spending time with her 3 year old, Julius, in the morning before she gets herself going with a business meeting or stepping into her home office to begin work at her full-time job as an insurance agent.

Evenings, you’ll find Sarah and her husband, Nate, working their business: Sarah’s Dumps. This is how I initially met Sarah. My Aunt hosted a private “Dumpling Making Class” in her home where all the gals of the family were invited to join. The entire experience was easily in my Top 10 between the delicious food, the energy & fun. My only request for next time: I wish Sarah & Nate could have sat down at the dinner table with us to enjoy the meal. These two are an incredible duo, such fun partners & all-around good people. Sarah’s Dumps are quite possibly my favorite dumplings ever & I love that I could get my hands in it and learn how to properly make one. Highly recommend booking a private class with them and invite all your friends to join. Between the food and the vibes, you’ll want to hang out with them forever!
When they aren’t at a Private Class or a Pop-Up Event, you can find Sarah spending time with her whole family. If you can’t tell – family is a top priority for Sarah and her crew. Weekends, you’ll find them doing much of the same, minus the insurance agent part. When I asked Sarah what her favorite part about motherhood was she replied: ‘Being able to love a tiny human and understand them in a way that no one else can.”

As always, I asked Sarah a few questions about business and being a Mom so let’s dive in and hear right from her:
What is your proudest moment as a Mom?
One of his first food requests was dumplings.
When you get time to yourself, what do you like to do?
Go for a run, re-watch a rom-com, content inspiration.
What advice would you give a new Mom?
It’s okay to feel like it’s the best & hardest thing you’ll ever do.
Tell me about something funny that happened to you as a Mom:
We signed up for the Dolly Parton Imagination Library where we get a book each month in the mail and Dolly Parton is pictured inside the cover of each one. So early on, we read one and I asked Julius who that was. And he said, Mama. We laughed and I corrected him. Next time, same thing. This went on for many months and books. I take it as the ultimate compliment!
